With her sharp eye for talent, the dancer and choreographer Michelle Dorrance has cooked up a tap dream team.
— Gia Kourlas, The New York Times

Michelle Dorrance, Hannah Heller, Melinda Sullivan, and Josette Wiggan-Freund, “a tap dream team” (The New York Times) co-created and star in this wild, satirical ride set to the brilliant music of Fats Waller. The piece imagines the last quartet of traveling vaudeville performers on earth, tasked with sharing the stories of humanity that no longer exists. Funny, poignant, and endlessly creative, this character piece shines light on uncomfortable truths about our world today – and has a great time doing so.

In “All Good Things Come to an End,” the music of Fats Waller frames a series of ironic tableaux… Alternating with Waller were unaccompanied tap ensembles, rich tapestries of sound, layered, complex, telling their truths in their own tap world. We couldn’t resist tapping our feet, gasping at the brilliant fusion of riff and gesture, and connecting to overwhelming personal narratives.
— Carolyn and Eli Newberger, The Berkshire Edge

program note

The temperatures have risen
The theaters have burned
Life as we know it will never return

We are the keepers of tales from before
The warnings, the fables, the myths, and the lore

We circle what’s left of this scorched tired earth
The very last show, tales of woe, myths of mirth

The road, it’s been tough but we've had a good run

With love,
Your ever-faithful servants (until we are none)
